La Baguette is the most versatile French breadThere could be nothing more quintessential about the French food than la baguette – the long stick like bread that forms the staple of every French table. La baguette is not just any other French bread, but one of the most versatile breads that the French created; there are probably more than 101 ways to eat baguette. Here I am going to talk about few of the popular (and my personal favorite) ways of eating baguette.

• Eat it fresh: This, you have to remember, is not an option but a rule, for stale baguette will harden and become as good as a long stick of brick. Though, purchasing breads daily might seem like a pain to many for us, it is the way the French prefer to eat – fresh and just out of the oven.

• Savor it plain: The best way to eat a baguette is to buy freshly baked baguette from the bakery and ask them to pack it loosely. Then on your way back home, open a part of the wrap, tear off the end and savor the bread all along the way home.

• With butter and jam: This is the classic French breakfast; tear the baguette into pieces spread some butter, jam, or both, and relish the delight.

• Baguette pizza: This dish is fast catching up as a fast food option. To make baguette pizza, slice the baguette into half, spread your favorite pizza topping over it (don’t forget the mozzarella), bake it at 350oF and enjoy.

• Baguette for lunch: Want something wholesome, why not try baguette for lunch; sandwich it with some ham and salad for a quick bite. If you want something really filling and exotic, then slice it up like a subway loaf, add some meat balls, pickles, olives, and garlic salt, sprinkle some cheese on top, cover with foil and bake at 350oF. In about 10 to 15 mins you will have a lovely sumptuous meal ready.

• Baguette with cocktails: This is absolutely the height of versatility any bread could ever exhibit; slice up the Baguette and serve it with pate as the perfect accompaniment for a cocktail party.

So these are just some of the ways in which you can eat Baguette, there are several more ways of enjoying this French bread. Do share some of your favorite Baguette eating styles with me. For more Baguette recipes and ideas refer to this ifood.tv page.
