How to Dehydrate Bananas
Bananas are a great option when it comes to snacks. However, by dehydrating bananas, you will actually lose out on the flavour of the bananas. They will become bland and spongy. But if you really want to dehydrate bananas, here are some tips.
What You Need
Step 1: Peel the bananas and cut them into small slices, about a quarter of an inch thick.
Step 2: Place the banana slices in a bowl of lemon juice. Let them stand for about 5 minutes. This ensures the bananas will not run brown.
Step 3: Preheat your oven to about 125 degrees Fahrenheit.
Step 4: Once the oven is hot enough, place the banana slices inside and let them cook for 18 hours. Make sure the slices don’t touch each other.
Step 5: Take the slices of the oven as soon as they become pliable and not crunchy. Let the slices cool.
Step 6: Store the dehydrated banana slices in a jar.
You can also dehydrate bananas by deep frying them. Just take the slices and fry them till they become crispy. Drain the excess oil and store the banana chips in a jar. However, this leaves the banana chips with a lot of fat. Hence, this method would not be recommended.
You can use these banana slices in your breakfast cereal or on bread to make banana sandwiches, but most would prefer using fresh bananas.
