2 cups dried pinto beans
2 qt. bowl with lid
1 qt. water
Strainer
Crock pot (or slow cooker)
4 cup water or broth
2 tbsp. dark molasses or dark brown sugar
1 tsp. granulated onion powder
Pepper and salt to taste
How to Cook Pinto Beans in the Crock Pot
Step 1: Rinse the pinto beans and measure two cups of pinto beans into a bowl with water. Cover the bowl with the lid and let it sit overnight to soak.
Step 2: Put your pinto beans in a strainer and wash them again with your hands.
Step 3: Set the clean pinto beans in crockpot. Add 4 cup of broth or water, 2 tbsp. of molasses and 1 tsp. of onion powder to the crockpot.
Step 4: For about 6 hrs heat the pinto beans in crockpot on high until tender. You may also cook the pinto beans on high for the first hour, then low overnight.
Step 5: After cooking the pinto beans in the crockpot keep the beans in a tight container in refrigerator. You may store the beans for a couple of days or frozen for up to a month.
Use these pinto beans in any recipe requiring pinto beans or simply serve with salt and pepper to taste.
