How To Cook Coddled Eggs

Coddled eggs refer to lightly cooked eggs, which mean they can be hardly cooked, partially cooked or completely cooked. Most people like their eggs in a particular form and by using the method of coddle, anyone make the eggs as desired. The other benefit of coddle eggs is that it not only lends variety to eating eggs differently each time, but it can even be prepared to add it as a condiment over a dish such as Caesar salad.


Ways to Cook Coddled Eggs


There are two ways of coddling eggs where in one method the egg needs to be cooked in its shell by allowing it to boil in water. The second method is to use an egg coddler, which is ideally a porcelain cup or ramekin. In this case, you would need to butter up the insides of the egg coddler so that the egg can be removed easily and it also adds flavor to the egg. If you prefer to follow a step-by-step process on how to cook coddled eggs, then the following procedure will definitely be of help.


Steps To Cook Coddled Egg:


• You need to first boil water in a large pot.


• To prepare eggs in an egg coddler, the inside of the pot has to be buttered properly. If you are health conscious and wouldn’t like to add butter, you can even choose to moisten the pot with olive oil, cooking oil or any non-stick spray.


• The egg should ideally be in room temperature because if it is straight out from the refrigerator, it may take more time to get cooked. You would have to break the egg and season it with salt and pepper.


• To make the egg coddle recipe more interesting and delicious, you can even get a little creative and add onions, cheese, chopped herbs, ham or bacon.


• Once you have added the ingredients you need to stand the egg coddler in a pan of boiling water, however it is important to make sure that the water reaches only halfway as the egg coddler should not be completely submerged.


• Allow the eggs to simmer in the coddler for a couple of minutes, which can range form anywhere between 5 to 8 minutes.


Once the eggs are coddled you can transfer it to a plate and enjoy it for breakfast or lunch and can always add a slice of toast to accompany your eggs.
