How To Clean Rusty Grill Grates
Just think of a situation when you are all prepared to grill your favourite steak chops and you open your grill, only to find it rusty. You cannot do anything right now except learning how to clean rusty grill grates.
If you do not use your grill every day or quite often, it is very likely that the grills develop rust and hence you need to know how to clean it.
To clean any rusty grill grate just do the following:
Step one: Start by heating the grill so that any grease residue can be removed easily. If you are using a charcoal grill, ignite the fuel and let your grill burn for at least 15 minutes.
Step two: Use any good grill brush to remove the rust from the surface. Be careful, that while removing the rust you do not damage the grates. You can use a brass bristled brush which can be soft on the grates if you wish to be extra careful.
Step three: Scrub backwards and then forward for better cleaning. You can use as much pressure you want.
Step four: When your brushing is over, you can sprinkle the grates with little baking soda – especially the most affected area.
Step five: Place the heated grill into your oven at a temperature of 350 degree F. You will notice that bubbles form up – this is really helpful in scrubbing the rust off.
Step six: You can now wipe the grill clean. You are completely done now.
