How To Choose Healthy Food For Teeth?
When I was a child, I suffered a great deal from dental pain. I couldn’t sleep at night and would often have swollen face due to dental pain – this was when my mom taught me how to choose healthy food for teeth. Our teeth are very sensitive and if they develop a decay or the tooth enamel is damaged then nothing can be worst than this.
Reasons For Tooth Decay
One of the main reasons for our poor dental health is that we choose the wrong kind of food – we have too much of sugary goodies and don’t even bother to wash our mouth at times. Not only this, we do not feel the importance of choosing healthy food for teeth – as a result, our teeth are neglected and we suffer in the later years of our life. Here are some healthy food options which are good for your teeth.
Raw fruits and vegetables – Nothing can be as healthy and nutritious for our body than raw fruits and vegetables. Fruits like carrots and celery sticks help in the removal of plaque and prevent the building of tartar on our teet
h. Have plenty of apples to get strong teeth along with vegetables like eggplants, cabbage, cauliflower and pumpkin which have calcium – which is good for our teeth.
Sugary foods – If you wish to have strong teeth you have to stay away from all sweet goodies like candies, cakes, cookies, pastries and caramel. Acid from these sugary foods react with the bacteria present in the mouth and soon dissolve to remove enamel from the teeth which ultimately causes tooth decay.
Green leafy vegetables – You need to have large quantities of dark leafy vegetables such as kale, broccoli and spinach in your diet. These vegetables help to strengthen our gums and prevent aches which are caused due to inflammation of the gums.
Calcium rich foods – You need to increase the intake of foods which have high quantity of calcium. These foods include cheese and yogurt which are required for very healthy and strong teeth. Cheese is one of those foods which help to neutralize the harmful decay which can lead to tooth cavity. Cheese helps in rebuilding the enamel of our teeth.
Drinks – You need to stay away from all those drinks and foods which can cause discoloration of your teeth. You should avoid drinking too much coffee, sodas, red wine, soy sauce and even black tea as all these can lead to stained teeth and discoloration of teeth.
Strawberries and lemons – These are two fruits which are known to whiten and brighten up your teeth naturally. These two fruits are a great way to get a whiter smile along with being a rich source of vitamin C. We all know that vitamin C is excellent for improving gum health.
Fruits and veggies are revered since ages for being friendly to our teeth and preventing decay and carries.
