How To Celebrate National Hamburger Day

How To CelebraCelebrating National Hamburger Day with Hamburgerste National Hamburger Day ! You know, the hamburger sometimes reminds me of Miranda Hobbes of Sex and the City. Let me tell you why. I am not sure in which season this happens, but this definitely happens. Every day Miranda takes a certain route to her office. On the way she passes by a hamburger joint which employs a guy to wear a hamburger costume and lure customers. But that cheeky hamburger costumed guy would deliberately and repeatedly make passes at Miranda saying. “Bite me. Eat me.” Now that would make Miranda to fantasize about the man in the hamburger costume. I won't blame her much, because the guy in costume was cute and his costume was that of a hamburger. America could do with many more such good looking hamburger costumed guys and hamburgers (healthier one, of course). Lol!

Now, getting back to the National Hamburger Day, it is celebrated on the 28th of May every year. Yeah, yeah, you've guessed it. It is one of the few gazillion food holidays that USA has. The word Hamburger originates from the German city of Hamburg. Back in the 18th century, Hamburg used to be one of the most well established seaports in Europe. The American sailors who visited Hamburg would bring back with them, what is known as the 'Hamburg steak'. Soon in ports like New York, locally made Hamburg steaks were made and sold. The idea of the Hamburg steak might be a German invention but putting the steak in between the buns was an ingenious idea of the Americans. In 2002, 8.2 million hamburgers were sold in the restaurants across the USA. Whoopa!

No matter how hard Michelle Obama is trying to cultivate healthier eating habits among children and adults; the hamburger is the staple food of the full blooded Americans. She will have to work doubly hard to bring about a change. But until then, the hamburger rules the day in America. To prove that point, 20th Century Fox is also going to launch a new animated sitcom from January next year called as Bob's Burgers. The best way to celebrate the National Hamburger Day is to host a nice little backyard barbecue party and invite your friends over. Or if you are too lazy to grill 'em burgers, buy those Big Macs. Since, you have about 5 months until the National Hamburger Day, you could also have a Bob's Burgers marathon while munching 'em burgers.

Hamburgers – May the force be with you!
