How To Celebrate National Brownie Day
How to celebrate National Brownie Day? By gorging on some supercalifergadelicious brownies of course! Brownies... Oh! Just the thought of all those thick, brown, chocolaty, buttery, gooey brownies is making me salivate. Besides, I am hungry right now. December 8th is the National Brownie Day of the USA. Isn't it pretty cool that USA is probably the only country that celebrates different food days through out the year? It sure is. It falls on the penultimate day of Hanukkah, thereby giving a good reason to finish off Hanukkah with a rich gooey brownie. The brownie used to be America's favorite snack, but right now the brownie is fast becoming the world's favorite snack. That is good in a way, because you can find a brownie anywhere around the world.
So what makes a brownie, a brownie? Simply put, it gets its name from its color; brown. The exact origin of the brownie is ambiguous. There are many stories and claims of the brownie's origin. There is one story that claims that a chef in Boston, Massachusetts, added chocolate to the biscuits that he was baking. In a different story, a housewife from Bangor, Maine forgot to add baking powder to the cake that she was baking. That nice lady's cake did not rise because baking powder was not added while baking. Instead of throwing out the cake, she had served the 'cake' as flat slabs. There are many more stories about the origin of the brownie. But, we are not here to dispute its origin; instead, we are here to simply enjoy a nice slab of it.
Now that I am writing about the National Brownie Day, I think that I'm going to call my girlfriend/girlfiends over and have a little party. The warm chocolate brownie goes very well with hot coffee and hotter gossip. So, I guess, that is what Imma gonna do now; have a 'girls gone wild' party this Thursday! You can celebrate too by having a party. You can bake the brownies, if you have the time, or you can buy the brownies from your favorite baker across the street. Either way, the love spreads when the brownie is shared.
The Holiday season is almost here and the air is filled with festivities. I'm coming to think that the Brownie Day would be the best way to kick start this year's Holiday season.
Enjoy your brownie and mazel tov!
