How to Barbecue Beef

Beef barbecue is perhaps the most famous dining choice in the US as well as in Australia. If you have guests over on the weekend are wondering how to barbecue beef, here are few things to keep in mind.A portion of Beef BBQ

Before Cooking – The Beef

So, to start off, buy the best beef you can.

Leave it out of the fridge for at least 2-3 hours before you start cooking. This ensures the beef sears better and forms a nice crust.

Pat the meat with a paper towel and remove the excess moisture. You don’t want your beef to be smoking on the grill.

Just before you begin cooking, grease the meat with some oil so that it doesn’t stick to the grill.

Before Cooking – The Grill

Ensure that your grill is clean. Rust can destroy your steak. You will also need to demarcate two areas on the grill – one high heat area and one low heat area. Next, brush some oil on the grill, start up the grill and bring it to cooking temperature.

While You Cook

Place the beef on the grill and let it cook for 3-5 minutes, until the crust is charred. Flip the steak and cook for a further 3-5 minutes.

Now, move the meat to the low heat area and let it sit for around 10 minutes. This should result in a steak that is medium done. Leave the meat on for a lesser time if you want a rare steak.

Remove the steak from the grill and place it in aluminium foil. Leave it for around 5 minutes. This allows the juices of the beef to settle and makes the meat tenderer.

It’s Time to Eat!

So, what are you waiting for, bring out the knives and the forks. Set the plates and enjoy your Beef Barbecue.

While this is a simple method of barbecuing beef, other, more complicated recipes do exist, such as Herbed Beef Tenderloin, the famous New York Strip and the Mexican Steak. For more beef barbecue recipes, click here.
