Ingredients:
To bake tofu, you need the following ingredients:
• Tofu – 450 grams.
• Soy Sauce – 1/8 cup
• Butter or Oil – 1 tablespoon, to grease
Method:
• You need to select the right kind of tofu for the perfect baked tofu recipe. Buy the extra firm regular tofu and not the silken one. If you are really finding it difficult to buy non-silken ones, you can try this trick to make them extra firm:
o Drain the tofu and set it on a few paper towels on a rimmed dinner plate.
o Place another plate on top and weight it down with something heavy. This will press the extra liquid out and your tofu will become more firm.
o Let this sit for about half an hour.
• Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit for about 15 minutes.
• In the mean time, slice the tofu into rectangular slabs, each slice being about a quarter inch thick.
• Coat both the sides of the tofu with soy sauce. Coat evenly and in generous amount, so that no portions are unattended. Let the slices thus be marinated for about 20 minutes. The longer you marinate, the better the flavors are absorbed. Flip the slices a couple of times, so that the marinade is absorbed evenly.
• Take the baking tray and lightly grease it with butter or oil.
• Once the tofu pieces are marinated, place them on the baking tray in single layer. Ensure that they are evenly spaced out, so that they do not stick to each other when baked.
• Bake for about 30-35 minutes. In the midway, after about 15 minutes, flip sides to ensure that the other side is also baked well.
• You know that the tofu pieces are ready once they get a deep, golden brown color and become crispy from outside. Remove them from the oven and your baked tofu is ready.
