The Complete Guide On How To Bake Muffin

Muffins are made using the simple ingredients, flour, sugar, eggs, and butter. You can add fruits and nuts or any other flavorings for varied taste.

Ingredients

Flour: Flour is essential for baking muffin. If you are using all-purpose flour or cake flour, then add 1 ½ tbsp baking powder for every ¾ cup of flour used.

Butter: Butter brings in the richness, softness, and moistness to the muffins. Add 7 tsp butter for every ¾ cup of flour.

Eggs: The binders of dough, eggs also bring in a delectable flavor to these breakfast delights. Add 2 eggs for ¾ cup of flour.

Sugar: Sweeten your muffins with sugar. Sugar also moistens the batter, while slowing down the formation of gluten. You can use 2 tbsp sugar for ¾ cup of flour.

Evaporated skimmed milk: Milk adds richness to the muffins. Add flour and milk in the ratio of 1:3.

Vanilla extract: Optional flavoring for added taste.

Instructions On How To Bake Muffin

  1. Preheat the oven to specified temperature at least 15 minutes before baking.
  2. Always mix wet and dry ingredients in two separate bowls.
  3. Make a shallow well in the dry ingredient mixture and then add the wet ingredients into it and then blend. If your recipe mentions a different method, follow the order mentioned in the recipe.
  4. Never over-stir the mixture. Never stir or beat the batter to lump-free and smooth mixture. The batter should be lumpy, with the ingredients just moistened. Overbeating will result in the formation of large holes in the batter.
  5. Crosscheck the measurements of ingredients. Sieve flour with baking soda for ideal soft muffins.
  6. If you are using fruits or nuts, dust them with flour or just sprinkle them atop the batter, just before baking.
  7. Never fill muffin cups up to the brim. Muffin cups should always be ¾ full with batter to allow the formation of round tops. You can choose a scoop to transfer batter into muffin cups.
  8. Always grease the muffin cups bottoms and halfway through sides with a pastry brush. Line them with paper liners to allow easy removal of baked muffins.
  9. If you fall short of batter, then fill empty muffin cups with water until 1/2 full. This will help in even baking of muffins.
  10. Place the muffin pans in the middle rack for even baking. Bake the mini muffins 5 to 8 min than standard muffins, while jumbo muffins can take 8 to 13 minutes more than standard muffins.
  11. Remove the muffins from oven the tops turn golden and they spring back when touched gently. You can keep the pans on a wet towel for removing muffins easily from the pan.
