Baking eggplant helps to retain all its nutrientsWe all cook eggplant but mostly use it along with other vegetables. Eggplant has a distinct flavor and taste of its own but you won’t realize it until you learn how to bake eggplant. Baking eggplant is a separate recipe itself in which all the essential nutrients of the vegetable are well retained. If you are preparing it in any other way you will realize that it has lost some of its nutrients and doesn’t taste that good too. If you are not much accustomed to cooking and cannot rely much on your culinary skills try out this recipe – it is simple, quick and tastes delicious.

Here are the few steps involved in baking eggplant:

Step 1: Start the process of baking eggplant by washing it very well so that if there are debris or pesticides it gets washed off easily.
Step 2: When you have finished washing start to remove its stem. The stem needs to be compulsorily removed from eggplant before baking.
Step 3: Start slicing eggplant into small pieces.
Tip: You have to be careful when you are making slices – each slice should not be much thick. If it is too thick, it is not going to cook well. So…the ideal size can be measured by comparing it with the thickness of your finger.
Step 4: Make tiny holes in each piece. You can use forks for this purpose.Making holes in eggplant pieces while baking eggplant
Tip: You need to remember that in any eggplant recipe you should make tiny holes. This ensures that the vegetable gets cooked in a natural way. Moreover, if you make holes, it is an assurance that it is not going to burst and mess up your oven.
Step 5: Put all your eggplant slices in a baking dish.
Step 6: Put a layer of vegetable oil in this baking dish before you put it inside the oven.
Step 7: Coat the walls of your baking dish also with vegetable oil.
Tip: When you are placing the slices in the baking dish, you need to ensure there needs to be a little space between the slices of eggplant. They shouldn’t rest on top of one another.
Step 8: Preheat your oven to a temperature of 350 degree F.
Step 9: When it is preheated, put the baking dish inside the oven.
Step 10: Let it bake for 30 minutes. After thirty minutes you have to turn the slices so that the other side also bakes equally.
Step 11: Your eggplant will be completely baked in 1 hour.
Step 12: Remove it from the oven and serve hot.

When completely baked you can serve your eggplant with a dressing of olive oil and some garlic sauce – it will taste absolutely delicious.
