How To Bake Blueberry Pie

Ingredients You Need
To make things simpler, use a readymade pastry dough for a double crust 9-inch pie
Fresh blueberries – These are the main ingredient of the pie, you'll need 5 cups for a 9 inch pie.
Sugar - Along with adding sweetness to the dish, sugar also helps in providing the color to the baked dish. Approx ½ cup is good enough for a 9-inch pie.
Flour - For sprinkling about 3 tablespoons.
Lemon juice – 1 to 2 teaspoon to enhance the flavor.
Lemon zest – ½ teaspoon, grated. This too is added for enhanced flavor and aroma.
Butter – For the required softness in the pie, about 1 tablespoon.
Egg – 1, beaten with 1-tablespoon water to glaze the pie. this will provide the required sheen and avoid over drying while baking.
1 Prepare the basic piecrust and refrigerate for at least 20 minutes before using it. The crust can also be made one day ahead and refrigerated.
2 Preheat the oven about 15 minutes before baking to either the mentioned temperature or 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
3 In a bowl, add the blueberries along with sugar, lemon juice, lemon zest, flour and toss lightly so that the blueberries are well coated.
4 Sprinkle the work surface with some flour to avoid the dough from sticking and making the work easier.
5 Divide the dough into two parts one larger than the other.
6 Roll out the larger part of the dough in a circle about 1/8th inch thick slightly bigger than the pan.
7 Carefully place the rolled dough to the pan to form the bottom crust.Gently press the dough and flatten completely to avoid any air bubbles.
8 Neatly trim the edges to a 1-inch overhang, this is done to form a pretty looking edge while finalizing.
9 Evenly place the blueberry mixture in the dough lined pan and dot with the pieces of butter.
10 Roll the other half of the dough and cover the pie. Trim the edges neatly.
11 Crimp the edges to give a fancy look and make some slits on the top for the steam to escape.
12 Glaze with the egg and water mixture using a brush, this is done so that the top gets a nice golden color when baked and to prevent the pie crust from over drying.
13 Bake the pie for about 35 – 45 minutes until the crust is golden.
