Whenever we talk about McDonald, all that we think about are the fast foods – burgers, French fries, wraps, etc. But it’s time for an image change, for McDonald has come up with its new nutritious oatmeal. So how nutritious is McDonald’s new oatmeal? Let’s take a look.

They call the McDonald’s new oatmeal the “Fruit and Maple Oatmeal” – and true to its name, the oatmeal evinces the presence of both in generous amounts. A decent sized container is stuffed with oatmeal and topped with generous portions of fresh and dried fruits. Oatmeal had always been considered as a healthy breakfast menu - low in fat and rich if fibers, it is one of the dieticians’ favorites. A decent cup of oatmeal has just about 75 calories. To this, they add generous portions of green and red apples, dried cranberries, raisins and golden raisins. These fruits are also great sources of vitamins and fibers needed by our body. A spread of maple syrup on top of the steaming oatmeal cup eliminates the need for adding sugar, thereby adding more health to the dish as well as a silky touch of great taste and aroma.

The whole cup of McDonald’s new oatmeal adds up to only 290 calories. This can further be reduced to 260 calories if you can simply avoid adding brown sugar to it. It also contains about 4 grams of fat – a really meager amount when compared to other options available at McDonald. The nutritional value is also retained because the oatmeal that they serve is freshly made – served right there and then, only when the order is placed.

McDonald’s new oatmeal is gaining fast popularity. It is quite reasonably priced – just 1.99 USD per cup and it is healthy – the two biggest reasons that is earning it more and more fans. But there are other reasons for its fast growing popularity as well. The innovative touch of adding fruits to regular oatmeal had not just made it new, but also tastier. The nice aroma of maple that hits us pleasantly the moment it is poured on the steaming cup of oatmeal really carries us along. And most importantly, if a healthy breakfast option that you can just grab on your way to work is what you are looking for, then this is the one for you. No guilt, no fat, no extra inches – all that McDonald’s new oatmeal offers is great taste and a quick and healthy breakfast option.
