High Protein Diet Menu

Following a high protein diet menu is mandatory for athletes and for people keen on building their muscles. Consuming foods rich in protein and low in carbohydrates help in maintaining the blood glucose levels adequately and are considered to be energy giving as opposed to carbohydrate rich diets. People who work out extensively require to follow a high-protein diet menu more than most. It helps in repairing their damaged muscle tissues and promotes a leaner look bereft of fat.

However, it is important to eat high protein foods at proper times. There are certain types of food that need to be avoided completely too. Let us now take a look at the various regulations associated with a high protein diet menu.

The diet plan can be incorporated into three basic meals for the entire day or divided into smaller meals during the course of the day.

High Protein Diet Breakfast

A high protein breakfast usually includes a couple of boiled eggs, a serving of baked beans, and sausage links along with some unbuttered brown bread slices.

A fruit or a cup of green tea can be included as well. You can also eat the eggs scrambled in olive oil if you are not too fond of boiled eggs.

A high protein lunch menu can consist of low fat pasta or a wild rice preparation. You can also add 2 slices of whole grain bread instead. A slice of lean meat along with a fruit of your choice completes the meal.

A platterful of assorted nuts should help you overcome hunger in the evening. You can replace it with some fruit and cottage cheese if you find it difficult to nibble on nuts.

A Poached or grilled salmon along with a broccoli & cauliflower salad should fill you up comfortably at dinner. A glass of Seltzer Water to wash it all down should help you build up your muscles adequately.

A glass of protein drink or protein whey mixed with water will help in maintaining your strength.

A diet based on high protein with a minimum of carbohydrate and fat intake is good for weight loss and muscle building. However, continuing to follow a high protein diet menu for long is fraught with health risks. It is, therefore,  advisable to consult a dietician or a doctor before embarking on a high protein diet plan.
