Hey Emotional Eater, Food Is Not Your Healer!

An emotional eater like me is in the habit of digging into a chunk of my favorite chocolate cake after a big fight with my husband! Being a habitual emotional eater, I’ve put on quite a number of those extra kilos that I could’ve well avoided had I not resorted to eating when under emotional duress. No, that food didn’t do much for me other than make me gain weight. I was on my way to becoming fat and ugly and my problems remained.

I understand; whenever something unpleasant happens you need something really pleasant to calm your senses and that’s why you find solace in the tastiest of foods available. But mind you, the food helps you in no way. It just serves to add up extra weight. An emotional eater is so much like an alcoholic who drinks thinking his problems will vanish! But does drinking really help? You know that better friends!

Here are some tips on how to control emotional eating from psychology degree holder Jessica. An emotional eater in the past, Jessica was 423 lbs. 16 months ago, but she got rid of all that with some techniques that really worked for her. Here are they:

•    When you are emotionally down meditate/ pray
•    Concentrate on your breathing and count 1,2,3,4,5. This really worked for me!
•    Try creative visualization. I always imagine my favorite spot of scenic beauty.

Personally, I ask you to rush to the freezer for a glass of cold water, not that chocolate cake. Water’s the best thing to soothe your senses when you are really angry or depressed. Instead of food, I turn to my favorite gaming website or just take a small nap just after the emotional upheaval. Try these and don’t be an emotional eater because that’ll only make you obese.
