Healthy Lunches For Toddlers
It is important to make sure that you are providing healthy lunches for toddlers at home. A child who is between the ages of 1 to 4 is generally considered a toddler.
-
Toddlers like to nibble their way through a variety of foods, so try out a customized smorgasbord. Use a compartmentalized dish, and put bite-size portions of colorful and nutritious foods in each section. Try slices of avocado, apples, bananas, hardboiled egg wedges, steamed broccoli florets.
-
Hide vegetables in soups and sauces if your toddler won't eat them any other way.
-
For another healthy meal, spread a few spoonfuls of light cream cheese on a whole grain bagel. If your toddler has a favorite jelly, you might mix a little into the cream cheese for added flavor. If she likes cucumbers or tomatoes, lay a few slices over the cream cheese.
-
A protein filled lunch like chicken meatballs would be ideal for a toddler lunch. Cut the chicken into small pieces. Use a processor to chop parsley and sweet onion, add chicken till it is creamy texture. You can add a side of organic baby carrots to serve along side of it.
-
If your toddler is vegetarian, or even otherwise you could serve her garlic tofu with veggies. Remember to steam the veggies until soft. You could either mix it all or keep it separate when served.
- If your child is tired of the usual sandwiches, try do-it-yourself pita pockets. Look for whole wheat pita bread. The filling can be bade with her desired veggies — carrots, celery, cucumbers, or sweet peppers, for instance. Add a wee bit of shredded cheese and mix it together with a mild salsa.
Remember, foods may be served soft cooked if needed - not all toddlers will be able to eat "raw" veggies or fruits! Always make certain that foods are suitable for YOUR toddler. Check with your pediatrician about introducing peanut butter.
Hope these healthy lunches for toddlers might give you some inspiration and show you how easy it is to feed your child healthy lunches on a daily basis.
