Almonds Are Ideal Heart HealthY SnacksIt is recommended to add healthy heart snacks in your daily diet.  Snacks and foods items that have more saturated fats can harm your heart by elevating the bad cholesterol. So choose food that provide complex carbohydrate and that are rich in protein to keep you less hungry throughout the day.  Go for vegetables and fruits are rich in fiber and try to avoid cakes, hard cheese, butter pastries, and sausages that are usually loaded with trans fat and saturated fats.   Here some heart healthy snacks are listed for you.

 

Smoothie

 

Smoothies taste great and are healthy when prepared using fresh fruits.  You can pick any of your favourite berries like strawberry or blueberry and blend with skimmed milk or orange juice.  Berries have anti inflammatory properties and you get lot of calcium from milk

Nuts have the ability to reduce cholesterol and can reduce the risk of heart diseases. Further the unpolysaturated fatty acids found in nuts enhances the elasticity of blood vessels. In addition, the dietary fiber and phytosterols in it can protect the heart from various problems.  Try to take them raw as it provides more nourishment.  Also the protein in nuts postpones hunger, thus supports weight management. Almonds are considered  heart friendly than all other nuts. A handful of almonds are considered one of the best healthy heart snacks. Besides almonds, pistachios, and walnuts are also effective and are protective to your heart.

 

Oatmeal and Oat bran

 

It is healthy to start your day with bowl of oatmeal; you can also have them in between meals. The soluble fiber in oatmeal and oat bran helps to lower the cholesterol levels.  Apart from this, these foods are rich in proteins and natural antioxidants that protect your heart from various afflictions

Vegetables

 

Slice fresh vegetables and store them in a container; use them anytime you feel like snacking. These fiber and nutrient rich food are filling and are the best fat free snacks.  Toss cauliflower, broccoli and green peas in balsamic vinegar and olive oil to prepare heart healthy snack. Shredded cabbage when tossed on olive oil and seasoned lightly makes a healthy snack.
