Growing yarrow is a pleasant activity which can be enjoyed by anybody. It is the most easiest to grow and popular flower garden mainstays in the whole world. Yarrow is the perfect plant for the hot, dry, and sunny spot. Here are a few instructions that will help you to grow the best yarrow season after season…

About yarrow:

Originally from Europe, yarrow can be found throughout North America. It is a well-known plant for its distinctive large and flat clusters of flowers. It comes in various colors such as yellow, orange, red and pink. In this article, you will find all the essential tips required on how to grow yarrow.

Tips on growing yarrow:

Location and soil preparation:

For growing the yarrow, always select the place where the plant can get maximum sunlight. Now comes the soil preparation. The best soil for this plant should be well drained and not too rich. Yarrow plants do not require additional fertilizers. They can grow in soils with less nutrient value.
The best time to grow yarrow is between early to late spring. You need to dig the soil, break up clods of dirt, and remove rocks and garden debris. Plant the yarrow and cover with thin layer of soil.

Watering:

Water the plant deeply on an occasional basis. Here I want to tell you something very important; yarrow will rot if the soil stays wet for longer periods of time. So be careful while watering the yarrow plant.

Harvesting:

You can harvest the yarrow when the plants are in the early stages of full bloom. Gather the flowers and leaves by cutting the entire stem half way down. Harvest after the flowers are open and when they are still vibrant looking.
You can tie their stems in small bunches and hang them out of direct sunlight. When they are fully dry, garble them, and store in an airtight jar.
