Goya Foods is Offering Latin American Favorites to Fans at Yankee Stadium
Goya Foods, the largest
Hispanic- owned food company in the United States is bringing the taste of
Latin America to historic Yankee Stadium this season, as it becomes a new
sponsor of the celebrated franchise. The season-long sponsorship includes a
permanent porch sign in left field, a promotional day on July 31st and the
operation of a Latino food concession stand featuring food made with Goya
products and ingredients. This endeavor is indicative of the growing
popularity of Latino food and its culture in all aspects of the American
experience. "We are thrilled to be a sponsor of the New York Yankees and
prouder still to introduce Latin American food to the 'House that Ruth
Built.' Given the tremendous contributions that Latino players and their
fans have made to America's favorite past-time, the pairing of Latino food
with baseball is a home run," stated Robert Unanue, President of Goya
Foods.
As a leader in the Latin American food industry, Goya continues to be
at the forefront in introducing Latino food to America. "Throughout the
United States, Latino culture has become an integral part of the American
experience. We have found that people are eager to learn about all things
Latino - be it music, dance and most especially food! Our new food
concession "Salsa on the Go" is a response to this consumer demand," stated
Joseph Perez, Goya's Senior Vice-President.
The aptly named "Salsa on the Go" is located at the Food Court on Field
Level, Section 20. Here fans will be treated to a variety of freshly
prepared Latin American favorites, made with Goya products and ingredients,
including Cuban sandwiches with Plantain Chips, Chicken in Salsa with Rice
and Beans, Beef or Cheese Empanadas, Sweet Plantains and beverages in
flavors like Mango, Passion Fruit and Guava. "We are excited about our new
and growing relationship with Goya. With such a great brand presence in the
Tri-state area, especially in the South Bronx where there is such a strong
Latino community, Latino food and Goya's presence at Yankee Stadium is only
natural" said Lonn A. Trost, New York Yankees Chief Operating Officer.
"The New York Yankees symbolize excellence and tradition. Goya Foods,
founded over 70 years ago, have always embraced these two concepts in its
mission to bring America's families the highest quality authentic Latin
American cuisine. Our sponsorship of the New York Yankees and the
inauguration of Goya's "Salsa on the Go" food concession is a great
opportunity to give our loyal consumers, and new fans alike, the food they
love, while enjoying a winning season" concluded Mr. Unanue.
