Get A Lasting Vision With These Omega-3s
You can now get a lasting vision with these omega-3s. A new study conducted on the relation between omega-3s and lasting vision has proved that one can gain lasting vision with these omega-3s. The study conducted on mice proved that a person can enjoy lasting vision with these omega-3s, absence of which can result in blindness in human beings.
The results of the lasting vision with these omega-3s identified that omega-3s have a major role in the prevention of eye disorders like retinopathy. The results of the lasting vision with omega-3s study has proved that one can enjoy last vision with these omega-3s, which helps in blocking the abnormal growth of the eye blood vessels. The study showing the relation between omega-3s and lasting vision was conducted by the ophthalmologist Dr. Lois Smith, who works at Children's Hospital Boston.
According to Smith, omega-3s have the activated proteins improving the sensitivity towards insulin. These are the proteins that are targets of drugs used for curing Diabetes Type II. So, according to the study, a person suffering from Type II diabetes can have lasting vision with these omega-3s since they help in improving the insulin sensitivity levels.
According to the researcher, “For people who have had diabetes for 25 years, more than half of them will have retinopathy” She is a professor of ophthalmology at the Harvard School of Medicine. “It’s a very common disease that’s getting even more common because it increases with obesity”, she adds.
Studies have proved that people who eat fish have lower chances of developing eye disorders like retinopathy. This is because fish contain omega-3s, the fatty acids that improve your sight.
This lasting vision with these omega-3s, which will be published in Science Translational Medicine journal, the researchers have focused on the various process of metabolism that enhance the level of protection from retinopathy and other eye disorders.
The mice sued for omega-3s and lasting vision study were provided diet rich in these fatty acids and the results proved that these fatty acids had the potential of preventing the abnormal growth of blood vessels in retina. The enzyme5-lipoxygenase got converted into 4-HDHA, an omega-3 fatty acid, which retards the abnormal growth of blood vessels.
“We found that it was produced by a specific pathway where we eat this essential fatty acid, and then it’s made into a sub-product (4-HDHA) that specifically prevents disease formation,” she said. The lasting vision with these omega-3s study also proved that analgesics like aspirin do not hamper the functionality of the omega-3 fatty acids in any way.
“This is important for people with diabetes, who often take aspirin to prevent heart disease,” she said.
“We found that it had as big an effect as the current drugs that are used in these diseases, so this is huge in terms of increasing medical costs that are occurring in all countries,” Dr Smith said. “Even more important is with the simple intervention just decreasing the disease burden and the horror of blindness in many patients is very exciting”.
She has joined hands with US National Eye Institute for the trial run of omega-3 supplements on patients suffering from macular degeneration. The study is expected to get over in 2013.
“The only way we’ll know for sure is by doing the clinical studies,” she said.
“For many patients that have milder disease there is the possibility that this could prevent the progression and they would never go onto the severe disease-causing blindness”, says the doctor.
So, now those who suffer from eye disorders, you can enjoy lasting vision with these omega-3s.
