Gerard Butler's weight loss has been noticed by everyone in the last few months. But no one really anticipated that the 300 star would have lost in what appears to be 30 pounds. In a charity soccer match in August, Gerard Butler, 41, was found shirtless in the locker room; and that was when the world came to know that the 'sex god' of 300 has lost some serious weight.

The star has been preparing for his role in a surf movie called Mavericks and it demands a sleeker look. "I'm prepping for a surf movie, so I'm surfing every day for 'Mavericks." explained Butler in an interview with PEOPLE magazine at a "Machine Gun Preacher" screening in New York.

In the movie, Gerard Butler plays Rick "Frosty" Hesson, the mentor to famous surfer Jay Moriarity, so he had to combine his daily water sports with a cardio regimen and yoga. This Mavericks actor shared a light conversation with E! on how he shed that weight. "I ate my last meal in October and I run about 40 miles a day But this is how I look. I just used to be a lot bigger. But now I'm surfing. I don't know...maybe I'm sick or something!" Butler jokingly said.

Some of his 300 fans are concerned that their favorite actor will not get back to his former glorious, muscle-packed self of 197 pounds. But not to worry, rumor has it that there might be a sequel to the 300 movie with Gerard Butler's King Leonidas character in it. About the rumored sequel and gaining back muscle, Butler said, "If the script was good, I would do it, I've got to feel that there's a real reason to go there, to do a second one, because I loved the first."

Though, he may still have those sculpted abs, and still be an eye candy; we all like him beefy, don't we?
