The real reason behind the movie 300's star Gerard Butler's weight is several unflattering photos taken by the paparazzi while he was holidaying by the beach in Barbados. A very slimmed down Butler is seen these days as his shooting for a surf movie called Mavericks. "I'm prepping for a surf movie, so I'm surfing every day for 'Mavericks." he said in one of the earlier interviews.

In an very recent interview with the CNN talk show host Piers Morgan, Gerard Butler confessed saying, "I saw those photos and that changed me. I changed my life actually. I was on holiday with a buddy down in Barbados... I was taking some time off and I was eating more and more and I kept thinking I should be careful.”

In the very own words of the Ugly Truth actors, “I was getting in the water and I looked over and I saw a boat in the distance (with photographers on), and I thought 'Oh no'. Even I didn't realize how awful it was going to look. In truth, it didn't look great, it didn't kill me... it did lead me to be a little more (aware) of what I was eating."

Gerard Butler's story is quite what similar to Jason Segel's weight loss story, where he was photographed by his assistant while he was sleeping in his hotel room, covered with Taco Bell wrappers. Check out his story here.
