Although it needs to be appealing, the food must be tasty and have the required amount of nutrition for the toddler. All these factors have to be kept in mind before planning a meal for a toddler.

Let us have a look at some fun meal ideas for toddlers.

  • Rice– This is the basic diet for your toddler. They need to have rice but if you give plain rice in a bowl your toddler will not even touch it. So how can you get your toddler ready to eat it? First do not give your toddler bland, plain rice. Mix some vegetables and make it colourful. Add some chicken or fish to it also. Make the rice a complete meal in itself. If your toddler is not very fond of vegetables, make vegetable puree and add it to the rice. This will give a different colour to the rice and your toddler will eat the vegetable without even knowing it. Secondly, while serving the rice to your toddler, make it appealing. If you are serving rice in a bowl, cut some cherry tomatoes into halves and make eyes whereas you can make some moustache with bell peppers.
  • Pasta, noodles – There are varieties of pastas available in the market nowadays. They are of different shapes, sizes and colours. Even Disney pasta is available. Make different kinds of pastas as these are appealing to your toddlers. Also, make different preparations – one day with cheese and vegetables, the other day it can be with tomatoes and bell peppers. As for the noodles make it pan fried one day, the next day you can make noodle soup.
  • Fruits and vegetables – Give your toddlers lots of raw vegetables. Cut them into various shapes and serve them with yummy dips. If your toddler does not want to eat fruits, make something sweet like custard or a trifle and include a lot of fruits in it.
  • You can also make smoothies and fruit milkshakes and your toddlers will love them

Always involve your toddler when planning meals for them. Give them a chance to help you out in making their own meals. Include some of their favourite things in the meal plan once in two to three days. These small tips will help in planning meal ideas for toddlers.
