Most of the studies today are focused on finding food frauds to show us the unhealthy side of food that are considered healthiest. Let’s check if reduced fat cheese is actually good for health or it’s a food fraud like many others.

Reduced fat cheeses are low in fat content; they help in avoiding weight gain and reduce cholesterol in patients with heart disease. Low fat cheeses are high in calcium and protein; these are essential nutrients for growing children. It also helps prevent osteoporosis, breast cancer, gout, metabolic syndrome and many more diseases.

The health benefits of reduced fat cheese are in plenty and there are no immediate harmful effects. Unhealthy effects of cheese is that most of the fat present in it is of saturated type. This holds true for reduced fat cheese as well, even though it is low in fat content; all the fat that it contains is unhealthy. Saturated fat is extremely unhealthy and is the major cause of all kinds of cardiovascular diseases.

A diet rich in cheese is not recommended owing to its saturated fat content. So instead of consuming reduced fat cheeses in huge quantities use them only for garnishing to enhance taste. Moderation is the key to healthy eating and the same applies to cheeses as well. A diet lacking in fat for years has many negative effects on health which also includes gallbladder diseases. Hence it is recommended to keep a tab on the quantity of cheese eaten even if it is eaten for healthy reasons.
