The organizing committee of commonwealth games Delhi 2010 geared up while bringing in food for the players. Yes, transporting French fries from Canada, fresh lettuce from Nainital and getting everything arranged to serve almost 20 lakh meals in 12 days, the last 40 days have been really challenging, says the Director of Fast Trax Food Pvt Ltd, Samar Qureshi. Fast Trax Food Pvt Ltd is the company that has the exclusive food licensee to serve food under the user pay category of the Commonwealth Games 2010. They are expected to supply quality food to international and domestic audience and various media personnel from all across the world.

While addressing the media, Qureshi said, “"We have been working for almost 14-15 hours a day since we were given the contract 40 days back to exclusively supply food at all the 12 stadia of the CWG and the media centre at Pragati Maidan."

He also said that keeping in mind the number of audience and the hugeness of the CWG, they had no other option then to procure fresh food and ingredients from outside.

Describing it as a "challenge of a lifetime", Qureshi further added, "Now we are ready to serve spectators across all the 12 stadia through 97 outlets."

Apart from French fries and lettuce, some other food that has been procured from other countries and states are burger combos, vegetarian and non-vegetarian wraps, various tikka rolls, curry boxes and sandwiches.

Qureshi further said "About 15 refrigerated vans are used to transport the food items to each of the event centres, where we have a main kitchen and smaller warehouse.” He also said that it is basically a question of pride for the nation and the company will never comprise to take any chances. That's the reason why Fast Trax is importing the French fries all the way from Canada.

Packaging materials have been imported from Malaysia, while many of the handling equipments have been flown in from as far as the US, he said.

With strict control over standards as well, the organizing committee is making sure that everyone enjoy their stay plus the food during commonwealth games Delhi 2010.
