Green tomatoes can be used as widely as red tomatoes. So if you have surplus green tomatoes in your garden, do not worry, here are five ways to use green tomatoes.

Salads
If you thought only red tomatoes can be used in salads, try your salad with green tomatoes. Green tomatoes will make your salad crunchy. You would probably not want to use red tomatoes any more.

Salsa or Chutney
Use green tomatoes for making salsa or chutney. Toss them with shallots, ginger, garlic and blend them all together in a blended with salt, sugar and vinegar. Use pepper for seasoning.

Curry
Green tomatoes can be used in making curries. However, add them at the climax because it would prevent other ingredients from getting soft if it is added in the beginning. Green tomatoes taste well with basic curries that have gravy in it.

Jam
When you have loads of green tomatoes, the best way is to preserve them. Make green tomato jam with Aceto Balsamico, it tastes sweet and sour. You can use them like your regular jam, but this one will have an extra-ordinary taste because you have grown your tomatoes.

Stew

Cook lentils in green tomatoes. A south Indian dish that is rich in protein is ideal for supper. Green tomato soup in lentils is served hot; add curry powder to make it spicy.
