Fast food restaurants plan more onslaught in 2011, introducing more greasy goodies on the food scene. The Americans who have grown numb to various types of burgers can now expect some food surprises from their favorite food chains.

Some of these fast foods are cheesier, buttery and spicier, which may appeal to our taste buds, but they induce gluttony and lethargy in the eater. Darren Tristo, a restaurant expert at market researcher at Technomic indicated there has been lots of revival happening on food scene, which they term carnival revival. Take a case of Funnel Cake Sticks, they are served along with melted frosting. Now they are considerably cheaper, but by 2011 the fast food chains are planning to increase their prices, to counterbalance their production costs due to improving economy.

Here are some fast food restaurant onslaughts that may punch you with its price, taste and moreover hit your health directly.

Nowadays more and more people are flocking to fast food restaurants to have their daily breakfast.  And Tristano says that “Breakfast has become a new battleground in fast food, and becoming the fastest-growing part of a restaurant’s daily schedule”. Here are some of the new items for all those who can’t wait to sink their teeth into something delicious at their favorite fast food joint.

  • Burger King introduced 9 breakfast items in its menu in 2010, and this numbers are expected to soar in 2011 too. The Burger King is planning to introduce “Ultimate Breakfast Platter” consisting of sausage, a crumbly biscuit, three pancakes, scrambled eggs and hash brown. B.K. adds "anything less and it wouldn't deserve to be called the ultimate."  This “Ultimate breakfast platter” packs in 1310 calories, with 72g fat and 2490mg sodium.

  • Dunkin Donuts is a celebrated breakfast hotspot, and like every year they are going to introduce some new tastes to their ever expanding menu. And one such tasty introduction of 2011 is going to be “Pancake Bites,” laced with bite-sized sausage links, which are wrapped in a maple-flavored pancake. You just need to dish out $1.59 to enjoy it.

  • Another fast food giant Chick-fil-A, is planning to introduce new spicier chicken biscuit from January 10. You can perhaps reserve your fare in advance by visiting www.getspicychicken.com.Also you can enjoy the new “Banana Pudding Milkshake” at any Chick-fil-A outlet from March to June.

The fast food restaurants are continuing their onslaught with new lunch and dinner items too. If you are @:

  • Wendy’s:  You can go for new potato fry recipe, with skinned natural–cut potatoes rubbed with sea salt crystals. Technomic’s Tristano says that only hot chips taste good, and you should not go for the settled ones.

  • Papa John’s:  You can settle for “double bacon” pizza made from six cheese blend of Asiago, Parmesan, Mozzarella, Romano, Provolone and Fontina by shelling out $12. This pizza is topped with both Canadian bacon and hickory -smoked bacon.

  • Sonic: You can go for “Red Velvet Cheesecake Blast” shake which combines ice cream, red velvet cake batter, and cheesecake pieces, completed with whipped topping.  But you may need to wait till January and February to enjoy this shake.

“For the entire buzz about price promotions or insane discounts, restaurant operators have been able to selectively bump up prices to keep their margins rising. Fast-casual restaurants (i.e. Panera of Bennigans) have already been able to raise prices, and likely will again in 2011,” said, Leslie Kerr, an analyst with the market research firm Intellaprice. And fast-food joints are also increasing their prices by few points every year which will continue in 2011 too.
