FACTS ABOUT MOUTH ULCERS

Mouth ulcer is a very common yet painful condition leading to an open sore inside the oral cavity. Most of the people in the world at least once suffer from this mouth ulcer in their lifetime. It cannot be transmitted from one person to another. You cannot get an ulcer from kissing someone or by sharing a glass.

 


 

Causes of Mouth Ulcer:

•    Anxiety
•    Stress
•    Oral trauma: chewing hard or sharp foods or excessive brushing
•    Certain foods increases the risk of ulcers like coffee, chocolates, almond, cheese, tomatoes
•    Hormonal changes: Women are more prone to have an ulcer because of the changes in the body during menstrual cycle
•    Vitamin B12, Iron and folic acid deficiency

 

Symptoms of Mouth Ulcer:

Mouth ulcer appears as a white or yellow oval with an inflamed red border. It is also associated with a painful swelling of the lymph nodes below the jaw line.

 

How to Ease Mouth Ulcer:

 

 

1) Gargle with a solution made from salt mixed in warm water; a saline mixture has a sterilizing effect on mouth blisters and sores.

2) Avoid caffeinated drinks and hot foods that contain sodium or spices.

3) Rubbing garlic directly onto the ulcer also helps. It may sting initially, but the ulcer will be gone before you know it.

4) Add a teaspoon of honey to a glass of water and use it to gargle or gargle with coconut oil.

5) Drink plenty of orange juice or take a supplement.

6) Raw onions are good for ulcers as they contain sulphur. Munch on them or eat them in salads.

7) Take a glass of chilled water and one glass of hot water and gargle alternately with both.
