Eating Disorders Lurk Behind The Music Confesses Brandy
Brandy Norwood aka Bran'Nu, the popular 90’s singer has gone and revealed her troubled teenage woes now. She confessed that she had been a victim of eating disorders and was not at all happy with the way she looked. She simply felt that she wasn’t worthy enough despite having numerous hit singles as well as the all time popular, “Moesha” on UPN to her credit.
The 33 year old star told it all on VH1's “Behind the Music” aired on Wednesday 9 PM(EST). Her main problem was rooted in an unrealistic image of herself and she felt that she just wasn’t thin enough. The result? Well, you know, giving up food, taking diet pills and regurgitation, a condition commonly known as bulimia in medical parlance. She isn’t really alone when it comes to eating disorders though with many celebs like Kelly Clarkson and Demi Lovato having succumbed to it before. British singer Lily Allen and spice girl Geri Halliwell have also had to fight against eating disorders in order to get out of the unhealthy relationship they had with food. Lady Gaga had recently put her foot in mouth when she declared that pop singers don’t eat .
Her friend, Shay Calhoun supports her while revealing how she felt during the troubled teens. "On the outside everybody saw this amazing person who had everything, but that's not what she saw when she looked in the mirror. She felt she was never as good as everyone else thought that she was."
“It all belongs to me” singer confessed that being hailed as the hottest star or making pots of money isn’t a cure of such disorders. She admits freely, "I'm here to tell you I was making so much money -- I was omnipresent -- and I was the unhappiest teenager probably in the world."
There’s nothing to worry though! All you need is a reassurance that your body is just fine and you don’t have to starve yourself because of a distorted self image. Go get yourself a therapist if you do find yourself trying to stay reed thin by giving up food! Health is indeed wealth as Brandy assures us and having all the money in the world will not make you happy unless you EAT.
