As I had mentioned in my previous blog... the association of Easter and eggs was unknown to me. Well I tried reading on the net and asked some of my Christian friends.

Here is what I understood. Egg stands for fertility. Easter is the rebirth of Christ. So the egg signifies new birth, of faith and  Christianity. The colorful eggs were also exchanged in olden days as the start of Spring. The season of color.

Easter  signifies the end of Lent the holy 40 day period where animal products are not consumed. The fast ends on Easter Sunday, eggs, animal products can be enjoyed.

About those bunnies, well, bunnies bacame the icon of fertility in ancient times. They repoduce in just 30 days. Go figure..
