Health has however, come to be a major concern today. With growing health consciousness, foods that can make a positive contribution to your health and are great tasting too are getting popular.

Steaming is a cooking technique that involves absolutely no fat content. The food cooked through steaming is definitely more nutritious as it has a higher nutritional value and no extra fat content. You do have here the secret to ensure great health for yourself and your family. Steaming as a method of cooking is used differently in different cuisines, however, the health benefits derived from it remain the same. There are a number of types of steamers available made of bamboo and metal that could be used to try out interesting recipes and pamper your taste buds.

I would like to make my contribution by adding the recipe of the popular steamed breakfast dish from Southern Indian – the Idli. The idli is highly nutritious going by the fact that it is a 100% steamed food and is a combination of rice and lentils. A wonderful combination of carbohydrates and proteins cooked using a healthy cooking technique – steaming. A great way to start your day.
