Often we start dieting of our own without knowing the fact that dieting and eating disorders actually go hand in hand. So, we should have proper information on the dieting and related eating disorders to ensure healthy and happy lifestyle. There are various types of eating disorder situations, but the most common conditions are Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia Nervosa.

Anorexia Nervosa

There are people who are very much sensitive about growing to be fat or obese or having a disproportionate figure. Staying under this fear, they grow on excessive tension, stress and anxiety, which eventually put them under obsessive dieting situation. To keep a control on their weight these people can even think of starving and excessive exercising, leading to poor nutrition and tremendously low self-esteem. These symptoms are usually diagnosed as Anorexia Nervosa as per the medical science. People affected with this disease try to attain almost an impossible objective of being slim. This disease is common mostly for the people in their adolescence. It has been seen that people with some type of personal crisis, be it physical or emotional; are more susceptible to this disease. Other than malnutrition, Anorexia can also cause excessive sensitivity to coldness or irregularity in the menstrual cycle. The emotional stress and tension can often lead to alienate the victims from their closed near and dear ones.

Bulimia Nervosa

People affected with this disease have different type of dieting opinion. They tend to eat a large amount of food within a short duration and then take laxatives or try to throw out intentionally, whatever they have eaten just by considering the fact that they had done a great mistake. Somehow they cannot control their eating behavior but regularly goes through a strict diet plan and intense exercise routine. As a result they suffer with tremendous mental pressure and awfully low self confidence. Bulimia could even attack the kids in their late teens. Sometimes people having unhappy past or present condition, also go for this abnormal eating situation. There could be different types of after-effects of this disease including irregular periods, damaged kidneys or urinary tracts etc other than the malnutrition and increased level of confusion. In acute cases, patients try to avoid their friends and family members being into completely lonely state of mind.

In both the above cases professional support is a must to treat the patients. But additionally they will require a continuous hand holding period to bring them back into normal lifestyle. The people affected in these diseases always try to hide facts about themselves. So it becomes really difficult to know how much damage already has been done to the sufferer.
