You might be surprised by learning that Dia Mirza, the famous Bollywood actress, is actually a “dessert person”. In one of her latest interviews, she revealed her dessert preferences among a wide array of foods.

However, you may not find it that surprising, when you know that she is in fact born to a Bengali mother. Since, most of the Bengalis are mad about various types of sweet preparations, you might link her preference to her heredity. In today’s Bollywood industry, she is a busy actress and model, but even then she manages to take time out to literally gorge on different types of desserts, be it Indian or Western. Normally she follows a strict diet routine as she has to keep herself in shape because of the nature of her profession. She has turned to be more conscious and serious about her eating habits, particularly after winning the Miss Asia Pacific crown in 2000. However, she cannot resist herself, when she stands in front of an array of favorite sweet dishes.  Perhaps, this is the only time, when she forgets about calculating calories or evaluating the health benefits of these dessert items.

Let me introduce you to some of the favorite dessert dishes of Dia Mirza:

Sandesh: You can link this to her Bengali origin. Sandesh is the most authentic sweets from Bengal, which can be basically prepared from either cottage cheese or condensed milk-cream. These mouth watering Bengali delicacies are renowned for their smooth texture and delectable taste. If she has the liberty to eat on, she can perhaps eat dozens of Sandesh at a time. However, for her career of film and modeling, she cannot access that much freedom.

Gajar Ka Halwa: Although, this is a common Indian dessert, it can be made most sophisticated in taste and look by adding various nuts, dry fruits and decorations. Basically this dessert is made from grated carrots and milk. To make it rich in taste, you can add extra cream to this preparation. But, all these cream, nuts and sugar – are not at all good for health and fitness. However, Ms. Mirza would rather put extra hours in exercising, just to taste few spoonfuls of this favorite dessert.

Khubani Ka Meetha: It is another favorite dessert of the former beauty queen, which is primarily made of luscious ripe apricots. This is a famous Hyderabadi sweet dish and since she has been groomed up in Hyderabad, you can easily link her choice to her favorite city. Preparation of this sweet dish takes a lot of time, as the khubani or the apricots need to get soft and pulpy in the simmering sugar syrup over low heat.

However, her choice of sweet desserts are not limited to within India, she would love to have any sweet treat based on chocolate. Some of her favorite chocolate recipes are also given here.

Chocolate Mousse: Even knowing the fact that chocolates are high in calories, it becomes difficult to resist herself, when she finds her favorite chocolate mousse. Usually this dessert is made of heavy cream, melted chocolate, egg yolks and sugar. None of the figure conscious Bollywood celebrity would dare to gorge on this dish. But, as you know, Dia does not care about these facts and as always, she cannot be stopped to taste a bowl of this sinful chocolate mousse.

Swiss Chocolates with Hazelnuts: In case, she does not find anything to sweeten her teeth, she can stick to the plain and simple Swiss chocolates with hazelnuts. She would definitely like to receive a box of these chocolates as a present for her birthday.
