Developing healthy dessert habits in your children is not an easy task to accomplish. It requires a lot of patience and most importantly some techniques for handling kids, who have problems by having desserts. I don’t mean to be harsh, but some pointers kept in mind will enable you to develop healthy dessert habits in your children sooner or later.

1. Give more choice of desserts to your child; include both healthy one and less healthy ones which your child likes. Do not force them to eat a lot but allow them to have a small portion to get started.

2. Do not ban unhealthy desserts for your child. Eating them moderately or less often will not harm your child. When you stop them from eating their favorite unhealthy dessert they will refuse to eat dessert of your choice.

3. Offer healthy desserts often and not every night. They will be bored to see the same unpleasant desserts all the time.

4. Explain your children that they should be having healthy desserts everyday and unhealthy ones only occasionally. Do not drag the talk into a debate, you will lose. So explain what is required and put an end to the talk. The more you try to explain, your child will have more questions and arguments. Do not allow any room for argument.

5. Do not force your child to eat all that is there in his plate. This will force him to overeat which is not good. Let him eat as much as he likes but make sure the child tries the dessert that has been served.

Developing healthy dessert habits in your children is difficult but not impossible. The above advices are from parents who have successfully got their children to eat healthy desserts.
