Spicy Veggie over Brown Rice

GadgetsKitchen Gadgets... My thought is less is better. Steve The Tortilla Guy bought me a muddler because I made my Mojito video (which was in his honor) using the back of a wooden spoon to do my muddeling. I'm thankful for that because that's one that can be used in many ways in the kitchen! New mojito video coming soon... Anyhow - I'm not one for having a heap of kitchen gadgets. Personally I think as long as you have some good knives that you keep sharp and just a few other essentials what more does one need? I use an old wine bottle as a meat pounder, washed and oiled dowell rod as a rolling pin and a few other off the wall things in place of your normal store bought items. Anyhow - The following article talks about tools that have to do with corn being the top selling kitchen gadgets of the year... Besides a knife to remove the kernals from the cob or those little things you poke into the sides to hold the cob if you're eating it that way what more does one need? I guess lots...

Mortar and Pestle is a must for the type of cooking we do and a pantry of fresh spices plus fresh herbs in the garden. I am with you on good knives-Kyocera for veggies slicing is my favourite, Global and Hnkles Chef's knives and such. I use the Japanese sharpening stones for keeping a nice edge on the steel knives. The Kyocera knives never get dull as they are made of cermic. Remember NEVER_NEVER cut on glass or any hard surface. Please use a wood or even plastic chopping surface to retain the edge on your knives.
