Coca Cola - Saving Lives!

A single man had a vision that led to the founding of Colalife 21 years ago and today Coca Cola is lending a hand to save the lives of millions in rural Africa. Simon Berry ‘s voice urging Coca Cola to save lives have at last moved Coca Cola to join hands with Colalife, and send medical aid to the destitute and poor throughout rural Africa though aid pods.

Aidpods are long wedge shaped containers that can be placed in the free space between the bottles in a crater carrying coca colas drinks. While working for the British Aid programme in 1988, in Katine, Zambia, ColaLife's founder Simon Berry figured that commercial drinks were available in the nook and corner of rural Africa as opposed to medicines! It was then that he came upon the idea to use the distribution network of coca cola to send across medicines. Coca Cola has excellent distribution networks in most developing counties. The Aidpods will contain oral rehydration salts and high-dose vitamin A tablets.

Its definitely a clever idea, it capitalizes on Coca Cola’s existing flourishing network, it doesn’t hamper Coca Colas profits in a significant way and it manages to trickle the aid down to the grass root level without harming the local enterprises and their functions. Talk about saving lives without compromising anyone else’s benefits!  The only cause of concern about the Colalife movement is the missing guarantee that the aid will reach the right hands. But, that is a worry all aid campaign bring about, however I certainly believe that Colalife’s strategy just might work!

Hats off to the will and persistence of Simon Berry and all his supporters in Facebook and also coca cola for joining in! Coca cola will be saving the lives of millions who would otherwise perish due to lack of medicines! You can also join the colalife movement and share your ideas and opinions. You might just help to save a life!
