Close To Capitol Hill - Junk Food Rules The Roost
Talk about contrasts! While the governmental authorities are going all out to promote healthy eating at schools across the nation, in the areas close to Capitol Hill - junk food rules the roost. People are seen queuing up for hot dogs and hamburgers along with a host of unhealthy edibles triggering off a veritable junk food crisis.
The deep fried all beef awash with cheese and a variety of toppings, each one of them having the dubious reputation of endangering the health are eaten with relish in and around the Capitol Hill area while the White House is going overboard with its advice on the benefits of healthy eating. A high end eatery specializing in hot dogs was recently seen patronized by gastronomes most of whom did not seem to be aware of their health and happily contributed to the junk food crisis.
The Match Box food group has a number of food joints in the area, each specializing in junk food items. Pizza joints along with dog spots and now Ted’s Bulletin a comfort food bistro which is not too pricey has been seeing a lot of footfalls despite warnings about the junk food crisis that has been threatening the Capitol Hill area.
The other side of the Capitol Hill does not seem to be overtly concerned with the junk food crisis either. Eateries serving pigs on a blanket of cheese, fried clam sandwiches, macaroni and pizzas are all selling well with the general public making a beeline for the affordable and more accessible food items without paying heed to the consequences of the junk food crisis that has begun to assume alarming proportions.
Mr. Mendelsohn is an individual closely associated with the First Lady’s anti-obesity campaign, but that certainly did not deter him from opening fast food joints in Capitol Hill neighborhoods all of which are doing great business. The junk food crisis does not really seem to be of much concern to the other reputed chefs who have all been eager to invest in the area. The common argument that one gets is that they are providing people with affordable, comfortable food items something that they had wanted to eat themselves.
The owner of the Liberty Tree, a restaurant serving deep fried food says that it is advisable to mix your food up. While it is not right to indulge in comfort food all seven days of the week, it is okay to give in to the urge once in a while.
The President sure seems to agree with the sentiment too. He has reportedly gorged on a variety of spiced rolls and fried fritters while on a trip quite oblivious to the junk food crisis that has been created in the Capitol Hill region.
