It is no doubt that Christina Aguilera’s weight gain has been criticized by the media (and me), but the Genie in a Bottle crooner seems to be more than happy in her own skin these days. Gotta hand it to her for fighting back the negative criticism.

Christina Aguilera told PEOPLE magazine at a Television Critics Association event for The Voice, “You got to be a strong, powerful, very confident woman.”  She also felt that it is particularly difficult for women in the entertainment business.

 “Women, we are definitely under a microscope and under massive scrutiny. As long as I am happy in my own skin, that is all that is all the confirmation I need,” she said.

But the 31-year-old songstress doesn’t mind adulation from ‘le boyfriend’ Matt Rutler and her friends and family. “I have a boyfriend that loves my body,” she says. “I love my body, my son is healthy and happy and that is all that matters.”

Ahem! Maybe after a lot of soul searching, Ms. Aguilera is trying to set the right example for her protégés on season 2 of The Voice.  All we’ve gotta do is wait and watch!
