Celebrity Diet Myths

People are always interested in knowing about their favorite celebrity's diet secrets. But are these real or is everything about celebrity diets a myths?

Now that the Christmas cakes and bakes are all things of the past, and we are back to the real world of diet regimes, weight loss programs and New Year resolutions, one wonders how to loose all that flab gained in the past two weeks. Will the honey and lemon in hot water work or should one try the Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore endorsed maple syrup, lemon and pepper option? Maybe the “power Balance” belt or the “sauna belt” will do the trick, and break up body fat into easily soluble fat.

The diet plans that are always tried are the ones endorsed by celebs. Some of these might sound even crazy, but if you have someone as hot and sexy as Naomi Campbell vouching for the results of the technique, using those multi meaning words like 'cleansing' or 'detox', how can we not believe them? Just look at her! If she can get to that by doing just that one thing, then surely we can get to at last half her figure by following the same, right? After all, one would not know unless they tried.

Though the media is quick to publish the secrets behind the ravishing figure of these top models, what remains unheard are the few lone voices trying to deconstruct these theories using science. A non profit organisation based out of Britain, Sense About Science, has been trying hard to do the same. Every year they release a SAS booklet which focuses on the craziest celeb diet plans and a deconstruction of the same by experts.

When Naomi Campbell went live on the Oprah show about how good it is to cleanse your body once in a while, with the right kind of diet. Ursula Arens, a dietician with the British Dietetic Association has gone on record saying that the body has many natural functions to eliminate these so called toxic substances, and the diet has no effect on this physiological function and it does not improve the quality of body cleansing.

If this logic fails you and if you still want to follow the many celeb endorsed diet myths, then check with people you know who have followed the same. Did it work for them? After all, Cookie Diets and Alternate Day diets along with a Tapeworm Diet, might not do you any good.
