Caramel CustardThere’s so much you can do with a caramel menu. Caramel, a tasty treat made by heating milk fats and solids, sugar and water, has been enjoyed for its velvety flavor for ages. Here are some mouth watering menu ideas that will make any caramel menu look superb.

Caramel Cake

It would be a sin to not start a caramel menu with a dessert. Caramel can be a snack all by itself, but tastes so much better when poured over apples and cakes. Caramel cake is a savory, decadent desert and is really simple to make as well. Make a quick glaze for the cake with cream, corn syrup, brown sugar and a pinch of salt.

Caramel Corn

Swet caramel popcorn

Popcorn is a nice easy snack, so why shouldn't the caramel be a covering rather than a hard shell. Conventional recipes for homemade caramel corn almost always require the use of corn syrup. However, it is possible to make caramel corn without this food item. Molasses can be a sweet substitute.

Caramel Macchiato

Who doesn’t love this sinfully sweet beverage? Caramel Macchiato are easy to make at home and can save you lots of money. Before pouring the Espresso into your coffee mug or plastic cup, add between 2-3 teaspoons of caramel to your cup. If you want more or less, that is up to you. Add a few cubes of ice on top the caramel. On top of the ice, add your brewed Espresso, and lastly, milk. This can also be completed in the reverse manner.

Duck Breast with Vinegar Caramel Dressing

This is a great dish to put on the caramel menu because few people would have tried a dish as different as this. While making this, do remember to lightly score skin of duck breast in a diamond pattern and rub with salt mixture and then place in a non-reactive container and refrigerate for about 3 hours. A great wine accompaniment for this dish would be a deep red Amarone.

Caramel Salmon

Adults and kids alike are going to love this dish because of its wonderful sweetness. You can serve it with steamed basmati rice and some steamed broccoli or Asian greens.  Try and find some organic greens as they bring so much taste with them. After the dish is cooked you can garnish it with some lemon wedges and drizzle some of the sauce on top.

These caramel recipes are great if you enjoy cooking and not very time consuming either. They will make that caramel menu special enough to make the eater come back for more. Have fun cooking!
