Cancer Pain Reasons

Cancer itself is a deadly disease and the pain caused due to it is a horrible factor added to this not so much curable disease. But why pain is a prominent factor in cancer patients? In my family, a very close relative of mine is suffering from this deadly disease and so I know how painful it would be for the patient. I am here to share a few causes of pain in the cancerous body.

Patient Taking Chemotherapy Treatment

Pain in cancer patients can be due to the direct effects of the dangerous tumor, due to complications of the cancer therapy (for example radiation treatments, chemotherapy-induced neuropathy, which is a type of pain syndrome of the nerves, etc.) or it can also be unrelated to the cancer.  One can also develop chronic pain such as back pain, wrist pain, pain while walking or pain in body due to fatigue.

Now the question arises about the severity of pain. It mainly depends on the type of pain syndrome as well as patient factors. For example, bone and neuropathy pain syndromes tend to be the most difficult to treat, and are usually very much painful and stressing. The patients’ genetic makeup, including psychological factors, also seems to be a responsible factor in terms of pain; it’s severity as well response to the treatment.

Though the causes do not end here, but al least we get a rough idea what is happening to the patients. For those patients, we should be very sympathetic and never let them feel that we are not with them. It’s true we can’t help them much, but at least we can make them feel that we understand what they are going through and that we are with them to whatever possible extentSmile!
