Are fruits and veggies safe to eat? We give fruits and vegetables to our kids in a belief that they are getting nutrition from it. But in reality, we are indirectly giving them lots of chemicals and poisonous pesticides, which when accumulate in the body, can make us sick and unhealthy. Pesticides are harmful chemicals rather poisons that can kill small rodents, pests, weeds and insects that harm an agricultural crop.

Apples most polluted, mangoes least polluted: Recent researches showed that changing eating practices lowered the ingestion of pesticides. The USDA Pesticide Data Program carried out the investigations and found that fruits, including apples, peaches, pears, potatoes, bell peppers, celery, cherries, imported grapes, spinach and strawberries were on top of the list of the most contaminated produce. Good news for mango-lovers as mangoes were among the least polluted produce. Some other least polluted produce are asparagus, avocados, bananas, broccoli, cauliflower, sweet corn, kiwi, onions, papaya, pineapples, and sweet peas.

Wash and peel produce to eliminate pollutants-Avoiding pesticides intake: It is often recommended to wash fruits and vegetables to get rid of the presence of pesticide residues from the surface of produce. But, some plants absorb the pollutants and washing does not help a lot. If not all pollutants can be eliminated, some of it can be removed by discarding the skin of fruits and veggies.
