Budweiser Shows Its True Colors!!!
Your “Budweiser” bottle has now been adorned in true colors and they are red, white, and blue! The company has decided to dress up the “Budweiser” bottles, cans and other packaging, including bottle caps, in patriotic colors for this summer. And all this has been done keeping charity in mind. Read on to know more:
1) Major Makeover
The red, white, and blue makeover is part of the company’s strategy to boost its sales. In fact, it was only last August that “Budweiser” had redesigned its can to increase sales in the US market. The initiative comes at a time when the company’s beer sales have taken a dip owing to the high rate of unemployment in America. For this summer, the company has granted the patriotic makeover to both its bottle and can. Since it is one of the world’s best-selling beers, “Budweiser” will launch its new cans in other parts of the world too, apart from America, but only later this year. This will actually be the 12th redesigning of the “Budweiser” products since 1936.
2) Summer Initiative
The redesigning is a part of “Budweiser’s” summer initiative, which it has launched with the ‘Folds of Honor Foundation’ (FHF). The Foundation looks after the educational needs of children of families of the martyred or disable while serving military personnel. Between May 20 and July 7, 2012, a portion of the “Budweiser” sales, estimated to be up to $2.5 million, would be donated to FHF.
3) The New Design
According to Rob McCarthy, vice president of “Budweiser”, “The new design is the latest in one of many steps to reinforce Budweiser as a truly global brand.” The iconic bowties is the focal point of the redesigning process, which will feature on the patriotic bottle. The patriotic bottle, itself, comes with a choice of five different bottle caps, all decorated in red, white, and blue colors. McCarthy explains, “It is going to be a red, white and blue summer for Budweiser – most visibly in our packaging but more importantly in our philanthropic support for the families of America’s fallen heroes through the Folds of Honor Foundation. Our partnership with Folds of Honor is helping to make a difference in the lives of families whose loved one have made the ultimate sacrifice to protect the freedoms we all hold so dear.” The patriotic packaging will be implemented in the 12-ounce glass bottle, 16-ounce aluminum bottle, 16-ounce plastic bottle as well as cans weighing 8, 12, 16, and 24 ounces. What’s more is that the patriotic theme spills out also on the outer packaging, generally called secondary packaging, which will adorn 6-packs, 24-packs, 30-packs, and other popular size denominations.
4) Other Designs
Apart from adorning the bottles, cans, and caps in patriotic colors, the company is also going to initiate other efforts to spread the patriotic fervor this summer. These steps are:-
a. ‘Walk Off a Hero’ Program – For every walk-off during baseball’s 2012 regular season, the company will donate $5,000 to the FHF.
b. Olympics 2012 – During the 2012 Summer Olympic Games, for which “Budweiser” is the official sponsor of the US Team, the company will launch a 16-ounce aluminum bottle which will also flash the logo of the Team USA.
c. Flag Day sampling – The company’s wholesalers will organize sampling events for the beer during mid-June, including on June 14, the Flag Day.
It seems, “Budweiser” is going to spill some patriotism along with its beer this summer and since it is going to be literally everywhere, make sure you manage to catch some of the fervor too. You may also like to try out some Flag Day cupcake ideas while you are at it.
