A study on Britain’s consumer behavior has a report saying “Britons Go beyond Chocolates - Look up To Nuts, Dried Fruits”. The health conscious Britons seek out nuts instead of chocolates. Chocolates have been an all time favorite in Europe but recently there has been a boost in the sales of nuts, dried fruits and seeds instead of chocolates. In 2009, sales of nuts and dried fruits soared up to 547 million pounds revealing consumer’s concerns over their health.
In a more detailed study, it was found that almost 44 percent of Britons seek out nuts instead of chocolates. Nuts are rich sources of Omega-6 that keeps heart and brain healthy. Most of these 44% consumer are above 45 years of age who are very likely to be affected with cardiovascular diseases and age related brain disorders. Healthier snacks are in much demand among this group of consumer. And out of the rest 36 percent of consumers are opting for dried fruits instead of sweets.
Chocolates are good for health only when it is eaten in small quantities. Britons loved milk chocolates that are rich in fat content while dark chocolates are less in demand but are healthy when compared to commercial chocolates. Eating too much of chocolates can cause obesity which results in many critical health disease. Britons have realized the importance of nutritious snacks and its no wonder to see Britons going beyond chocolates - looking upto nuts, dried fruits.
