There are several natural remedies for bedwetting or involuntary urination in sleep. It is also known as nocturnal enuresis.  The condition is of two types: primary enuresis and secondary enuresis.

Bedwetting is caused mainly due to immature development of the nervous system, where the child is not aware that its bladder is full.

A small bladder in a child cannot contain all the urine produced in the night.

Defect in the urinary system, which is quite rare among children, is another reason for bedwetting.

Hormonal and genetic factors, constipation, urinary infection, epilepsy and deep sleep can also result in bedwetting.

Some best natural remedies for bedwetting are consumption of cranberry juice eating walnuts, drinking herbal tea and following a healthy diet.

Cranberry juice consumed about an hour before going to bed prevents bedwetting. Herbs such as causticum, ursi, pulsatilla, lycopodium and corn silk consumed in different forms also help the condition.

Among various natural remedies for bedwetting, eating walnut along with raisins is preferred as children do not hesitate to eat them.

If children like consuming tea, then herbal tea made from oak bark, horsetail, wormwood is good.

An important natural remedy against bedwetting is training. A child needs to be trained and educated on bladder retention. Set short time intervals to postpone urination, and slowly increase the period.

Children should avoid drinking water or any other liquids before bedtime. Always, make them empty their bladders before going to sleep.

Importantly, never scold a child before others for bedwetting. Instead, help the child empty the bladder at different time intervals in the night.

A healthy diet is an important factor in natural remedies for bedwetting. Good diet that is rich in carbohydrates, proteins and vitamins will help in controlling bedwetting naturally. Chocolates, juices and other allergy causing food can be avoided.
