Best 5 Thanksgiving Meal Side Dishes
So, you have already ordered the turkey for the Thanksgiving Day; but have you decided anything about the side dishes! If not, then here you will find some useful ideas on the best 5 thanksgiving meal side dishes. All of these thanksgiving meal side dishes are my favorite and I hope, you and your guests would also like them.
Endive Salad
Salad is one of the important entries for every formal and festive meal. You can have any normal salad, but when you make your salad something special and delicate, you can make your guests feel overwhelmed just at the beginning of the meal. This endive salad is prepared with fresh and clean endive leaves. The leaves are topped with candied nuts and blue cheese. The salad dressing is prepared by mixing balsamic vinegar, olive oil and Dijon mustard. Arrange the leaves like the flower petals in individual salad plates and serve by drizzling the dressing.
Roasted Butternut Squash Soup
While serving a full meal, you must consider serving a warm and hearty soup to welcome your guests whole heartedly. This roasted butternut squash soup is prepared with freshly harvested butternut squash and other vegetables like carrots, celery, leeks etc. All these seasonal vegetables add a unique touch of season to this preparation. The squash is first roasted to make it tender. The Italian sausage and the other vegetables are sautéed and then boiled in chicken stock. The roasted squash is added to the soup along with maple syrup and sage. Finally, the ingredients are blended with a hand blender to give the soup a smooth and velvety texture.
Cranberry Sauce
How can you think of celebrating Thanksgiving without having this traditional and popular side dish! Although you can buy readymade cranberry sauce, but making at home, offers a distinctive taste and flavor to the sauce. Use fresh cranberry juice, fresh orange juice and honey to boil over medium-high heat. Add the fresh and washed cranberries to the sauce and cook until the cranberries burst. Allow the sauce to cool down inside the refrigerator before serving.
Sweet Potato Casserole
You should serve a vegetable casserole dish for the Thanksgiving meal. It can be anything like broccoli or green beans or something else. But I choose sweet potato, as because it is an important harvest of this season and the sweet taste of yams is also a favorite to many. First of all, you have to bake the sweet potatoes for scooping out the flesh. To the mashed sweet potatoes, add the spices like ginger, cinnamon, pepper, nutmeg etc along with the butter, eggs and brown sugar. Bake this mixture in a baking pan by sprinkling with pecans.
Macaroni and Cheese
Although there is nothing seasonal in this preparation, but somehow it has been included into my list of best thanksgiving side dishes. It is also quite popular to the young and little guests. Prepare the egg noodles as per the direction on the package. Blend the cheese, milk, cream and flour properly and add the seasonings of your choice. Toss the noodles into this blend and sprinkle with more cheese before you put this into the oven for baking.
