An Apple a day may not always keep the doctor away

AppleI had been hearing for sometime from experts that one must soak the fruit for a few hours in water to get rid of all the chemicals before actually eating it. This is especially true for fruits such as apples and grapes which are sprayed with chemical fertilizers for a good healthy crop. However, so much so that it can actually do more harm than good. The mail that I got in my mailbox today was really shocking. In addition to chemicals sprayed there are other threats that we have to face today. The caution statement said in bold letters: Careful when eating apples. Please don't eat the skin of the apple because it's coated with wax.

The rest of the content of the mail read: Check before you eat many of the fruits.
WAX is being used for preservation purposes and cold storage.

You might be surprised especially apples from USA and other parts are more than one year old, though it would look fresh. Becox wax is coated, preventing bacteria to enter. So it does not get dry. Please Eat Apples after removing the wax as demonstrated below. Please  follow this and let know others...... .....

I was left wondering as to how much of this really true? Have any of you come across a similar problem.

A tablespoon of lemon juice and a tablespoon of baking soda can be added to a sinkful of water to make a good scrubbing solution. This can remove the wax and any pesticides which might be trapped underneath it.
