An 1800 Pound Pumpkin May Be The World's Biggest

An 1800 Pound Pumpkin May Be The World's Biggest or the world's biggest pumpkin ever grown – If "Peter the pumpkin eater" (the classic nursery rhyme ) had got wind of the news of what was in it for him for the future, then he would have kept his wife in a pumpkin as well as given his entire family - the giant pumpkin shelter.

The fall signaled festivities from Halloween to Thanksgiving lighting up the bareness of nature (all ready to dawn in the vivid hues of spring, preserved through the chillness of frost), with the festive spirit of mankind.
One such festival, celebrating the spirit of Halloween, was the Harvest Fest in Stillwater held in Minnesota between 9th October – 10th October 2010, which sported “giant pumpkins” from  the Mid west.
For the year 2010, Chris Stevens of New Richmond may have grown the world’s largest pumpkin (weighing 1810.5) pounds as it outweighs previous year’s world record by 85 pounds.
The previous year title of the world’s biggest pumpkin (weighed 1725 pounds) was claimed by Christy Harp of Ohio.
Local news reports covering the event showed Steve and the crowd in a pitch of excitement on being declared the winner for the year 2010. The achievement is to enter the Guinness Book of world records.
Steve, who is 32-years-old and a contractor, revealed that the secret behind his awesome, gigantic pumpkin was the application of the right proportion of sunshine, rain, cow manure, fish emulsion and seaweed. Indeed, his efforts did bear a bounty harvest claiming the title for the world’s biggest pumpkin.
The Harvest fest in Stillwater features the Giant pumpkin weigh off contest every year where top-notch gardeners showcase their giant pumpkin to bag the world’s biggest pumpkin ever grown.  Till the weigh-off begins the contestants and their pumpkins bid their time and fortune to gain those few extra pounds, breaking previous year records. The prizes are slotted for the first twenty places with the first prize winning a cash award of $2000 and, of course there is a $1000 cash prize for the state-record winner.
The fest also has other sports events centered around big pumpkins such as the Giant Pumpkin regatta, where celebrity regatta pilots compete to “sail” their pumpkins through, to reach the finish line.
Which, says that there is excitement and activity much against nature’s rule of dormancy during autumn, with enthusiastic gardeners and pumpkin patrons and the Halloween spirit joining hands, for growing the world’s largest pumpkin thus, inching past (even springing past) the previous year’s world records.
With the heart-pounding excitement that surrounded the weigh-off contest, the year 2010 saw yet again reach a pinnacle with “grand-gourds” inching closer to each other in a stiff competition, with the 1,800 pound pumpkin being the world’s biggest.
