Alcohol turns out to be a prime fuel in the body when you consume it. In other words it becomes the first thing that body starts hunting when it wants to burn fuel.
The moment you sip alcohol body stops hunting for carbohydrates or fats. Instead it starts burning the alcohol. The carbohydrates and fats are stored in the body. According to the experts the body starts behaving in this way only to ward off the alcohol because it is toxic to the body.
Alcohol triggers metabolism: According to Dr. Gaston Pawan from Middlesex Hospital, London the alcoholic beverages may lead to dilation of blood vessels in the skin and force it to work it under pressure. This may step up the metabolism to such extent that it will compensate for the calories that were consumed as alcohol. The triggered metabolism along with water loss through urine and skin can aid in weight loss. Also, the scientists observed that obese people who were on high –fat, low-calorie diet continued to lose weight even if alcohol consumption was increased by 500 calories. But later they observed that if same amount of carbs were introduced into the diet then these people stopped losing the weight and started to gain it. They reached to the conclusion that alcoholic drinks like liqueurs, beer and sweet wines are not at all fattening even if they contain large amount of carbohydrates. So the researchers suggest that those who want to try alcohol for weight loss should stick to these alcohols.
